‘Monk’ star Tony Shalhoub catches a buyer for his Windsor Square home
Consider it another case closed for Tony Shalhoub.
The actor, known for his starring role on the detective series “Monk,” and his wife, actress Brooke Adams, have sold their longtime home in the Windsor Square area of Los Angeles for $3.6 million.
Built in 1922 and since updated, the Mediterranean Revival-style house features period details including double-hung windows, decorative molding and wood paneling. In other parts of the home, artful tile, bright hues and moorish details create visual interest.
The 4,379 square feet of interiors feature a formal entry that opens on one side to a formal living room with a fireplace and, on the other, a wood-paneled dining room. A center-island kitchen, a media room, five bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms complete the floor plan.
Outdoors, drought tolerant gardens and landscaping surround a saltwater swimming pool and an outdoor kitchen. Near the edge of the half-acre grounds is a meditation area. A guest apartment sits above the garage.
The 62-year-old Shalhoub played the obsessive-compulsive detective Adrian Monk on the drama series from 2002 to 2009. He appears in the recently released “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows” and the upcoming CBS series “BrainDead.”
Adams, 67, has Broadway credits that include “The Cherry Orchard” and “The Heidi Chronicles.” She has also appeared in such films as “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” (1978), “The Dead Zone” (1983) and “Made-Up” (2002).
The couple bought the house in 1993 for $675,000, property records show.
James Foreman and Boni Bryant of Sotheby’s International Realty were the listing agents. Robin Fox of RE/MAX Estate Properties represented the buyers.
