Baseball exec Sandy Alderson sells golf course estate in Rancho Santa Fe
Sandy Alderson, the former Mets general manager who stepped down this summer for health reasons, has sold his home in San Diego’s Rancho Santa Fe community for $3.2 million.
He had sought roughly $4 million for the home last year, according to the Multiple Listing Service.
Overlooking a fairway at Del Mar Country Club, the 1999 home sports a tan color palette across two stories and 8,089 square feet. Two palm trees frame the entry, which opens to a foyer with a sweeping staircase.
Main-level living spaces include a dining area, center-island kitchen, breakfast nook and billiards room. Fireplaces anchor the two-story living room, wood-paneled office and family room, which also holds a wet bar under coffered ceilings.
Upstairs, a loft leads to the master suite, which opens through French doors to a private balcony. It’s one of six bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms.
Large rocks and landscaping surround the pool, spa and patio out back. The space also offers a grassy yard and a gazebo with a fireplace.
Cindy Mort and Karen Silvas of Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty held the listing. Julie Feld, also with Pacific Sotheby’s, represented the buyer.
Alderson, 71, has held executive roles with the Athletics, Padres and the MLB commissioner’s office. He took over as the Mets GM in 2010 before stepping down in June to undergo cancer treatment.
