Former 49er Patrick Willis lists his Bay Area home for $6 million
Patrick Willis is poised to ride out his retirement somewhere other than the Bay Area. The longtime San Francisco 49ers linebacker, who called it a career in March, has listed his home in San Jose for sale at $6 million.
Set at the end of a long driveway, the Mediterranean-style home is marked by a large motor court, a courtyard entry with a fountain and a detached garage/showroom. The 4.3-acre site takes in wide views of the surrounding city and mountains.
Entered through a double-height foyer with dual staircases, the 9,900 square feet of space is highlighted by large formal areas with open-truss ceilings, a center-island kitchen, an atrium office, four bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms. A home theater, a game room, a pool and a gym are among the amenities.
Rows of French doors open to an outdoor living room, a covered cabana and an infinity-edge pool with a spa, set off by sweeping views. Large expanses of grass and formal landscaping complete the outdoor setting.
Willis purchased the home in 2010 for $3.5 million, records show. Alan Aoyama of Century 21 M&M and Assoc. is the listing agent.
Willis, 30, surprised many when he announced his retirement in March, seemingly in the prime of his career. A first-round pick in 2007, he has been one of the most dominant inside linebackers over the last decade, making seven Pro Bowls and earning five first-team All-Pro nods in eight seasons with the 49ers.
