Julia Roberts sells her rose of a property in Hawaii to ‘Bachelor’ creator Mike Fleiss
Julia Roberts found a match for her Hawaiian estate in one of Hollywood’s biggest reality television producers.
Mike Fleiss, creator of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” series, is the buyer of Roberts’ home on the North Shore of Kauai, according to property records obtained by Pacific Business News. The sale of the two-plus-acre property on Hanalei Bay closed this week for $16.2 million, nearly half of the original list price of about $30 million.
Named the Faye Residence for former owner Hans Peter Faye, a prominent sugar plantation manager, the estate includes two homes and a desirable stretch of beach frontage measuring more than 200 feet.
The main house, built in Plantation style, has features beamed ceilings, a galley-style kitchen and an ocean-facing porch. Including the guest house there are seven bedrooms and four bathrooms in nearly 3,800 square feet.
Roberts bought the property five years ago for $13.375 million, records show. It was listed at $19.5 million prior to the sale.
The North Shore community is a familiar one for Fleiss, who in May sold a bluff-front compound in the area for $11.4 million. In October, he bought a half-acre property in Hanalei for $2.3 million, PBN reported.
Fleiss, 52, is known for creating the popular dating game show series “The Bachelor,” now in its 21st season. His other credits include the series “High School Reunion” and the films “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” (2003) and “Hostel” (2005).
