Starship’s Mark Morgan blasts off from modern home above Zuma Beach
Musician and score composer Mark Morgan and his wife, Wendy, have sold their modern home in Malibu for $4.1 million.
Designed by Morgan’s father, architect Melford Morgan, the gated house is visually dramatic with clean lines, voluminous living spaces and floor-to-ceiling glass. Various stone and wood finishes give an exotic sheen to the 4,872 square feet of interiors.
Living spaces include a tiered great room with steps connecting various sitting areas and a chef’s kitchen with an 11-foot-long island. The master suite, with a separate den and fireplace, takes in whitewater views of Zuma Beach through a wall of windows.
Including the attached guest house, which was previously used as a recording studio, there are three bedrooms and three bathrooms.
Ocean-view terraces, an outdoor kitchen, a fireplace, lawns and tropical landscaping fill the grounds.
Terre Steinbeck of Rodeo Realty and Matt Rapf of Pritchett-Rapf & Associates had the listing agent. Nicole Giangrosso, also of Rodeo, represented the buyer.
Morgan, 55, is a former member of the rock band Starship and contributed to the group’s 1989 album “Love Among the Cannibals.” As a composer, he has credits that include the series “Shark” and “One Tree Hill” as well as the video game classics “Fallout” and “Descent II.”
