My Chemical Romance vocalist Gerard Way lists his Highland Park home for sale
Singer-songwriter Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance and his wife, Mindless Self Indulgence bassist Lyn-Z, have put their home in Highland Park up for sale at $1.195 million.
Formerly a rundown duplex, the two-story Midcentury received a complete overhaul compliments of HabHouse two years ago that restored its luster while adding a range of upgrades throughout.
Among details of note is an updated kitchen with custom cabinetry, light hardwood floors and modern fixtures. In the living room, a wall fireplace with a floating concrete ledge was polished and painted black.
The master suite was expanded to make room for an oversized bath complete with decorative marble, a center soaking tub and a stone-lined fireplace. In all, there are six bedrooms and four bathrooms in about 3,600 square feet of space.
Outdoors, terrace balconies provide space for outdoor entertaining. Drought-tolerant landscaping surrounds the property.
Anthony John Cannella of Plush Home International Realty holds the listing.
Way, 39, co-founded My Chemical Romance in 2001 and released four albums with the alt-rock group before it disbanded in 2013. His debut solo album, “Hesitant Alien,” was released in 2014.
Way, 40, has been a member of Mindless Self Indulgence since 2001. The band released the compilation album “Pink” last year.
The couple bought the house a year ago for $1.08 million, records show.
