Legendary composer Burt Bacharach falls for a beach pad in Del Mar
Composer and songwriter Burt Bacharach has bought a place in Del Mar for $5.5 million.
Although the house may appear somewhat pedestrian for that price in the listing photos, in seaside Del Mar, location doesn’t come cheap. The mid-’70s two-story, with a detached studio, is just across the street and beyond a house to the sand.
The 2,626 square feet of interior space include a living room with a fireplace, a family room, the kitchen, six bedrooms and four bathrooms. There are four driveway parking spots.
Bacharach, 87, is a six-time Grammy winner and three-time Oscar winner. He paired with lyricist Hal David to write hits for Dionne Warwick and Perry Como.
Among Bacharch’s memorable songs are “I Say a Little Prayer,” “Walk on By” and “The Look of Love.” He won Academy Awards for “Arthur” and “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.”
The property was most recently listed in June at $5.95 million.
Peter Buckley of Peter Buckley was the listing agent. Jalane Kennedy of Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty represented Bacharach.
