Lamborghini brings special-edition Aventador to Shanghai Auto Show
After making a splash in Geneva with its wild Veneno supercar, Lamborghini is headed to Shanghai with an amped-up anniversary edition of its Aventador.
Never one to shy away from elaborate names, the Italian automaker announced Friday it is bringing to the Shanghai Auto Show the Aventador LP 720-4 50 Anniversario.
As the name suggests, the all-wheel-drive car is basically a slightly modified Aventador built to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary.

The 6.5-liter V-12 engine in this special edition gets a 20 horsepower boost over the stock Aventador for a total of 720 (hence the 720 in the name). The seven-speed automated manual transmission remains unchanged. Lamborghini said this version will now do zero-60 in 2.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 217 mph.
Exterior changes include a more aggressive front air intake and an entirely redesigned rear diffuser for greater ventilation. The car will come in any color you like, but the unique Giallo Maggio paint you see here will only be offered on this special edition. Inside, 50 Anniversario models get unique semi-aniline leather trim.
Only 100 will be built and the cars will be sold worldwide.
In addition to this Aventador, Lamborghini will have on hand in Shanghai an anniversary version of the aged Gallardo. The Gallardo LP 560-2 50 Anniversario edition is a rear-wheel-drive variant with a unique carbon-fiber wing and a transparent engine cover. Also on hand will be the recently launched Aventador Roadster.
