Chevrolet announces special edition of 2014 Corvette Stingray
The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette isn’t even on sale yet, but that hasn’t stopped General Motors from announcing a special edition.
The automaker Friday debuted the Premiere Edition Corvette Stingray, of which only 500 will be made. The car is essentially a completely loaded Stingray coupe with some unique appearance upgrades and special luggage.
The car will have the Corvette’s optional performance exhaust system and the Z51 performance package, which includes magnetic ride control, limited-slip differential and additional cooling systems.

All Premiere Stingrays will be painted Laguna Blue and will feature a tan suede interior and carbon fiber roof panel. The car will be fitted with a custom luggage set from Thule.
Because this version of the new Corvette Stingray comes with the performance exhaust system, it will be rated at 460 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. Last week, Chevrolet announced that this model would do zero-60 mph in 3.8 seconds.

Corvettes without the optional exhaust system will have 455 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. All versions announced to date will get that power from a 6.2-liter, direct-injected V-8.
Two transmissions will be available: A seven-speed manual transmission with automatic rev-matching, or a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters.
Pricing on the Premiere Stingray wasn’t announced, though expect to pay in the neighborhood of $75,000. If that’s too rich, the base Corvette Stingray Coupe will start at $51,995, including destination. The Corvette Stingray Convertible will add another $5,000.
The 2014 Corvette Stingray will hit dealerships later this year.
