Ten years of Team Edward vs. Team Jacob: New ‘Twilight’ edition to have bonus content
It’s been 10 years since readers were first introduced to the vampires, werewolves and mere humans of Forks, Wash., in “Twilight.”
At a fan conference over the weekend in the real town made famous by the fantasy novels and movie series, author Stephenie Meyer announced a 10th anniversary edition of the book will be released in October.
“It’s amazing to me that ten years have passed since ‘Twilight’ was first published,” Meyer said in a statement. “For me, this anniversary is a celebration of the fans, with all of their incredible passion and dedication. I’m excited to get to spend time with them again.”
“Twilight,” with its heady high school love triangle between Bella, Jacob and Edward, became the biggest teen book sensation since Harry Potter. All told the bestselling series -- “Twilight,” “New Moon,” “Eclipse,” “Breaking Dawn,” plus “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella” and “The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide” -- have sold close to 155 million copies worldwide.
There’s no specific word on what bonus content will be included in the 10th anniversary “Twilight” edition, which will be published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.
“I felt the same thrill reading this special anniversary edition as I did when I read the manuscript a decade ago,” Megan Tingley, executive vice president and publisher, said in the release about the book. “I’m pleased we have this opportunity for devoted fans to relive the extraordinary Twilight experience, as well as for a new generation of readers to discover it for the very first time.”
Little, Brown Books for Young Readers will release the 10th anniversary edition of “Twilight” on Oct. 6 in hardcover, e-book and large print, with an audio edition from Listening Library.
