Selected Shorts returns to the Getty, with snacks
The delightful reading series Selected Shorts returns to the Getty this weekend, complete with snacks. Actor Robert Sean Leonard will host all three shows, two on Saturday and one on Sunday.
Selected Shorts features short fiction read-slash-performed live by actors we’re used to seeing on-screen. This time around, performers include Michael Imperioli, Christopher Lloyd, Amber Tamblyn, Catherine O’Hara, Christina Pickles, Joshua Malina, Jane Kaczmarek and Leonard.
Each performance features a different lineup of actors and stories, but all three are thematically linked. This weekend’s stories all involve food -- and the $35 tickets include drinks and a selection of small bites.
There will be stories by Haruki Murakami, Ann Hood and Nora Ephron (3 p.m. Saturday); Lewis Carroll, Gustave Flaubert and Raymond Carver (7 p.m. Saturday); Lydia Davis, Henry Miller, Roald Dahl and Ann Beattie (3 p.m. Sunday).
Selected Shorts is produced by Symphony Space in New York and comes occasionally to the Getty to record a show for its broadcasts, which appear on public radio stations nationwide. Tickets are still available.
