The FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms are investigating whether a power outage on the final day of the Winter Olympics that hit Salt Lake International Airport may have been caused by a bomb, said the director of Utah Olympic public safety.

A chain-link fence had been cut at the power substation--which had been under 24-hour guard during the Games--and there was evidence of an explosion involving a circuit breaker, authorities said.

The power loss, which affected 33,000 customers, lasted for about an hour. Electricity was cut to the airport and the downtown media center. No flights were affected at the airport, which ran on generators until power could be restored.
