Contract talks between Ventura County and its largest employee union continued Wednesday.

County Executive Officer Johnny Johnston said progress has been made in the union’s demand for better wages but that the two sides are still at odds over an expansion in retirement benefits.

About 4,200 workers who make up Service Employees International Union, Local 998, are pushing for an average 10% pay hike and cost-of-living increases on pension checks.
