Third Man Dies as Result of Gang Shootout at Compton Carwash
A third man has died as the result of a Friday gang shootout in Compton that also killed 23-year-old Orlando Anderson, once named by police as a suspect in the Las Vegas slaying of rap star Tupac Shakur.
Michael Stone, 43, died early Saturday at Martin Luther King Jr. / Drew Medical Center, according to Compton Police Sgt. John Garrett. Stone is the elder brother of Jerry Stone, 25, who was also killed in the shootout, Garrett said.
Michael Reed Dorough, 24, the sole survivor of the gunfight, has been booked on suspicion of murder and is in the Twin Towers Jail.
The four men shot each other with handguns about 3:10 p.m. Friday outside a carwash at Alondra Boulevard and Oleander Avenue. Garrett said the dispute erupted over an unpaid debt and that thus far nothing suggests a connection to Shakur’s slaying.
