3 Daughters Give Birth on Same Day

When computer science teacher Ernie Carey asked his class for the probability that his two daughters would go into labor and give birth on the same day, students said there was almost no chance. When he threw in the possibility that a third daughter might also deliver on the same day, they laughed. So much for probabilities. Carey’s daughters beat 1-in-50-million odds, giving birth to two boys and a girl. “He threw up his hands and said, ‘No. 3 is in labor, class dismissed,’ ” said Carey’s wife, Lynn Carey.
