Warner Bros. Inc. has promoted Barbara S. Brogliatti to the new position of senior vice president for corporate communications in Burbank.

Brogliatti will be the chief press officer for Warner Bros.

Previously, Brogliatti was the company’s senior vice president for worldwide television publicity. Brogliatti joined Warner Bros. in 1989 when the company acquired Lorimar, where she had been working in publicity. Earlier, Brogliatti had worked 11 years for television producer Norman Lear.

John M. Merlo has been named president and chief executive of Premier America Federal Credit Union, headquartered in Chatsworth.

The credit union has about $390 million in assets and 20 branch offices in five states. It provides services for employees of Litton Industries, Western Atlas, Countrywide Credit and other concerns.

Merlo, 46, formerly was a senior vice president for Hughes Aircraft Employees Federal Credit Union in Manhattan Beach.

Buena Vista Pictures Marketing has promoted Oren Aviv to the newly created position of senior vice president of marketing and creative advertising, and has consolidated three separate creative groups under his leadership, the company announced.

Aviv will supervise production of all theatrical trailers, and coordinate print and broadcast material for movies produced and released under the Walt Disney, Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures banners.

In addition, all audio/visual, print and production departments will report to him. Aviv was hired by Disney in 1991 as vice president of creative film services for Buena Vista Pictures Marketing. Prior to Disney, he was a publicist for ABC Television.

* Joseph M. Deakin has been appointed director of the Ventura Regional Sanitation District’s water and waste water department. He will oversee the operation of 10 waste water facilities, including treatment plants in Santa Paula and Fillmore, three mutual water companies and a regional laboratory.

Deakin has been with the district since 1989.

* Bonnie Weigel, owner of Occasions Wedding & Event Planning in Oxnard, has received the designation Professional Wedding Consultant by the Assn. of Bridal Consultants. She also has expanded her business to include “Creative Memories,” offering supplies and instructions for preserving photographs.

She is a former event coordinator for Heritage Square in Oxnard.

* Attorney Janet Dillon of Oxnard has completed a training workshop with the California Air Resources Board on how to submit petitions for variances to air pollution control district hearing boards.

Dillon’s law firm, Janet Dillon & Associates, represents clients during environmental regulatory and land-use negotiations.
