Protecting Right to Vote

* It always somewhat sickens me to see only about 30% of the registered voters of a city turn out on election day. I was a career public servant in the military and served through three wars to guarantee that the citizens of this country would have the right to vote on matters concerning their destiny. I was obligated to do this for them, and they should also be obligated to cast their ballot on the issues of the day.

Agoura Hills has the opportunity once again to vote on an issue affecting them in their governance and their pocketbook. I would hope for at least 85% of the registered voters to exercise their right of suffrage but fear that the figure will be far less. By not voting they show their total unconcern with issues affecting them. By not voting they are encouraging future infringements on their lives, which may well be driving toward a “big brother” state. By not voting they are voiding their debt to the millions of service personnel, many of whom died trying to preserve that right to vote.

Please become familiar with the entire issue and not just the platitudes and glittering generalities being blasted at you. These quibblings, half-truths, “pie-in-the-sky” promises and doomsday prophesies are bad propaganda. Educate yourself through thoughtful and logical examination of all sides and disregard the bad propaganda.
