World champion Ayrton Senna made a remarkable return to the track a day after a crash during qualifying threatened the Brazilian’s participation in today’s Mexican Grand Prix at Mexico City.
Senna qualified sixth. His rival, Nigel Mansell of Britain, won the pole position for the 23rd time in his career.
Senna, 32, suffered severe bruises on his left leg after crashing at high speed on the bumpy, dusty Hermanos Rodriguez track.
