U.S. Borax to Consolidate Its Operations in Valencia
U.S. Borax & Chemical Corp. said it will consolidate its headquarters and research operations in a new building in Valencia by early 1993. U.S. Borax, a subsidiary of the giant British mining concern RTZ Corp. PLC, produces borax, boric acid and other boron compounds. It is currently based in Los Angeles and its research facility is in Anaheim.
The company said ground would be broken Sept. 6 on a 125,000-square-foot office building on a 4.2-acre site in the Valencia Corporate Center. The building is expected to be completed by late 1992. The new site will house about 250 workers, most of whom will be transferred from the Los Angeles and Anaheim facilities.
U.S. Borax said the move would make it more efficient and would put the company closer to its major production site at Boron, which is 90 miles east of Valencia.
