Three men were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of extorting money from a number of businesses operated by Southeast Asians, authorities said. The suspects allegedly demanded money in exchange for protection and threatened to harm the victims or their families if they did not comply.

The suspects are being held at the County Jail downtown in lieu of bail set at $100,000 each. They are: Chhiv Chhuon, 20, of the 4100 block of Euclid Avenue; Serey Siev, 19, of the 10,000 block of Westchester Avenue and Chan Um, 21, of Long Beach.
