Growth in San Luis Obispo
I read with a chuckle (perhaps it’s not so funny) Deasy’s “Los Angeles People and Urban Air Invades San Luis Obispo.” Recently I had an opportunity for employment for four different central coast cities, Grover City, Pismo Beach, San Luis Obispo, and Arroyo Grande. I brought with me 11 years of experience for these entry-level trainee positions. The testing was open to everyone regardless of experience. I finished in the top 10 or better in every city, but guess what, I wasn’t hired anywhere. After logging over 2,600 miles and paying for motels and gas and food from my meager budget, I figured out I wasn’t wanted. San Luis Obispo people are so busy discriminating against “outsiders” that they are cheating themselves.
