Ying-Ying, the most prolific expatriate panda, has died, apparently from depression after the death of her mate, the director of the Mexico City Zoo said Monday.

Maria Elena Hoyo said Ying-Ying, who was nearly 15 years old, died Sunday and that although the cause of death has not been determined, it is probably related to the demise of her lifelong mate, Pe-Pe, in October. She was the most prolific panda ever outside China with seven offspring, four of which survived.
