President Obama still thinks Kanye West is a jackass

Remember when President Obama called Kanye West a jackass for interrupting Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards? Well, he meant it.
Answering the question ‘Kanye or Jay-Z?,’ posed to him by the Atlantic, the head honcho didn’t miss a step in picking the latter.’ ‘Although,’ he added, ‘I like Kanye. He’s a Chicago guy. Smart. He’s very talented.’
Very talented, and, well, that other thing.
“He is a jackass,” Obama said when reminded of his earlier remark. ‘But he’s talented.’
So much for following in Jay-Z and Beyonce’s footsteps with an invitation to hang out at the White House any time soon — and if Kanye now really does see Kim Kardashian as ‘his Beyonce,’ as Us Magazine alleged this week, that could further complicate West versus West Wing relations.
Remember, the Obama family isn’t exactly nuts about Kimmie K. either, despite that ‘great show’ comment to Khloe Kardashian during a 2010 L.A. Lakers visit to Pennsylvania Avenue.
‘Barack really thinks some of the Kardashians — when they watch that stuff — he doesn’t like that as much,’ First Lady Michelle Obama told iVillage last year regarding her daughters’ TV habits, adding that the first father sees the adventures of the Kardashian sisters franchise as a great example of what not to do in life.
What Kim has done well is trump the president with her number of Twitter followers, having bested him last month above 14 million and pulling ahead him by a quarter-million or so.
Kanye, meanwhile, is hanging back there in the neighborhood of 7.1 million followers.
At least least he’s ahead of Johnny Knoxville — star of the ‘Jackass’ franchise.
