Authorities are searching for the person who beat to death a 25-year-old man whose remains were found in the Angeles National Forest.
The body of Nicholas Carter, 25, was discovered Jan. 19 near mile marker 2.72 on Big Tujunga Canyon Road, according to Lt. Mike Rosson of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s homicide bureau.
An autopsy showed Carter, of Glendale, had been beaten to death. He went missing from Jan. 4 to Jan. 7, Rosson said. On Jan. 9, a hiker found a shallow grave but no human remains were found at the time.
Ten days later, sheriff’s deputies returned to the scene and found Carter’s remains several hundred yards from the grave.
