Steven Arroyo, one of L.A.’s most ubiquitous restaurateurs, has just opened a new taqueria called Escuela. The diminutive 25-seat restaurant will serve a rotating menu of about a dozen different tacos, such as duck, pork, birria, tongue and cheek. Toppings include pickled cactus, habanero coleslaw and pumpkin seed gremolata. Tacos come two to an order and cost $6 to $10. You can also opt for a side like calabacita, Mexican-style corn on the cob, rice, beans, churros and popsicles. Right now dinner is the only meal served, but plans for breakfast and lunch are in the works.

Luxury comes to Beverly Hills (again) with the opening of Mr. C Hotel and its eponymous restaurant. It comes to us courtesy of the Cipriani family, which owns Harry’s Bar in Venice, as well as Cipriani Dolci in New York, among many others. Expect high-end Italian food in a lush environment featuring a 25-foot rosewood bar, a travertine floor, and French doors leading to a relaxed outdoor patio. Offerings include signature pizzas, fresh salads, carpaccio and baked tagliolini. Mr. C will also serve the original Bellini -- the one you pay top dollar for at Harry’s.

Park Ave. restaurant in Stanton has recently expanded to open a 60-person Italian dining garden called il Garage. The space was transformed from a vintage dairy farm and holds fast to its roots with antique tractors and planters raised on platforms for growing produce used in the restaurant’s menu. Menu items include Swiss chard ravioli; pappardelle with quail ragu; wild boar sausage with Italian peppers from the garden; strazzaprette; eggplant, green beans and arugula pesto from bed No. 5; and baby artichokes from bed No. 3.

[For the Record, 2:39 p.m. June 20: An earlier version of this post said that Mr. C is a Cipriani restaurant. It is not, it’s just owned by the Cipriani family.]
